BUTTERFLY DUET CARDS

Last week the Rainbow Lady Challenge DT used some of my Butterfly Duet digis...I thought you may like to see the lovely results

BUTTERFLY DUETS CARD 7

Card 7 created using designs from the new Butterfly Duets Digikit

This butterfly has been printed on to acetate and then had crumpled kitchen foil glued to the back.

You will need a graphics programme such as Serif CraftArtist or My Craft Studio.

1. Import the plain turquoise backing paper and resize to approx 5.5 ins square. Import the emboossed 

    look paper and resize to fit just  inside the turquoise paper.

2. Create the topper as follows: Import the dark blue paper and resize so it fits nicely in the centre of the

    embossed paper. Import the tie-dye effect paper and resize so it fits just inside the blue paper.

3. Import the flower frame and resize so it fits inside the tie-dye paper. Import the plain butterfly and resize

    so it fits inside the frame.

4. 'Deconstruct' the card and print the turquoise with the embossed pattern paper on to good quality paper.

5. Print all of the topper except the butterfly on to card.

6. Print the butterfly on to acetate. TIP: If your printed won't accept acetate,use double sided sticky tape

    to fix the top to a sheet of paper and try.

7. Glue the turquoise paper with the embossed paper to a dark blue greetings card.. Glue the topper in the

    middle of the card.

8. Stick the acetate butterfly on to double sided sticky paper. Crumple up some kitchen tin foil, flatten

    again and stick the butterfly to it. This gives a nice texture behind the coloured butterfly. Attach the

    butterfly body to the centre of the topper...add artificial flower stamens at this stage.

Card 6 featuring designs from the new Butterfly Duets Digikit

Once again the card was created in CraftArtist and then 'deconstructed' and printed on to paper, card and vellum and reassembled manually.

1. Import the plain mint backing paper into the programme and crop to a long rectangle shape.

    Then import the embossed look backing paper, shrink in size, copy and paste, and then place one

    on top of the other to make the patterned strip down the centre of the mint paper.

2. Import the dark purple paper and shrink size so it fits in the centre of the card. Create a white   

    square and resize to fit just inside the purple piece. This is to ensure that the vellum piece

    does not have the patterned paper showing through. Next import the dotted paper and resize so it fits

    over the white square.

3. Import the plain butterfly and resize so it will fit in the middle of the dotted paper.

4. 'Deconstruct' the card and print the mint paper with the two embossed papers on to paper. Glue to a

    suitably shaped greetings card.

5. Print the purple square with the white square on top on to card.

6. Print the dotted paper square on to vellum and lastly, the butterfly on to card.

7. Dry emboss the dots on the vellum square with an embossing tool (as for Parchment Craft) and glue over

    the white square. Attach this with glue or double sided sticky pads in the centre of the greetings card.

8. Use a patterned rubber stamps, embossing ink and a pearl powder to emboss the butterfly and then

    glue the body to the middle of the topper on the greetings card...attach artificial flower stamens at this

    stage.

BUTTERFLY DUETS Part 2

This is card using another of the Butterfly Duets designs.

The card was created in CraftArtist with design from Butterfly Duet 2 from the digikit.

Next a white square with the butterfly frame, then the dotted paper, another white square with the blue paper behind to make a border and lastly, the butterfly.

The card was then 'deconstructed' and the paper layers printed on to good quality paper. The squares plus frames were printed on to card and the butterfly on to vellum.

The card was then made up as follows:

1. The swirly backing paper with blue border was glued to a white greetings card.

2. A punch was used to round the corners of the largest butterfly frame square and glued to the greetings

    card...this layer could be raised with ds sticky pads if wished.

3. The corners were rounded on the next paper and glued inside the frame.

4. Then the smaller butterfly frame square with border glued in the centre of the dotted paper.

5. The dots on the vellum butterfly were dry embossed (as in parchment craft) so they appear whiter and

    raised. An alternative would be topaper prick the butterfly dots.

6. The butterfly was fixed to the centre of the card and the card embellished with gem stones and a pink   

    bow.
